     Your Committee on Human Services and Public Housing, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 583, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of: 

 

State Rehabilitation Council

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     Your Committee received written testimony in support of the nominee from a member of the House of Representatives, the Department of Human Services and the State Rehabilitation Council.

 

     The nominee currently serves as the Deputy Director of Women Helping Women, an organization that operates an emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence.  Prior to her current position, the nominee gained extensive professional experience in employment-related programs for individuals, including those with disabilities, in both the public and private sector while working with the Department of Labor Workforce Development Division, Insights to Success, and Network Enterprises, Inc.  She has worked as an employment coordinator, developed volunteer opportunities, provided employment counseling, and conducted community presentations and training.  In addition, the nominee would provide the Council with representation from Maui, which has been lacking for at least the past five years.

 

     Upon review of the testimony and personal history of the nominee, your Committee finds that the nominee has the necessary qualifications to serve on the State Rehabilitation Council.

 

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Human Services and Public Housing that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.
