STAND. COM. REP. NO. 3648
Honolulu, Hawaii
RE: GOV. MSG. NO. 563
Honorable Colleen Hanabusa
President of the Senate
Twenty-Fourth State Legislature
Regular Session of 2008
State of Hawaii
Madam:
Your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Affordable Housing, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 563, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of:
State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology
G.M. No. 563 |
JUNE J. TAKANO, for a term to expire 6-30-2012, |
begs leave to report as follows:
Your Committee reviewed the personal history, resume, and statement submitted by the nominee, and finds June J. Takano to have the necessary qualifications to be nominated to the State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.
Testimony in support of Ms. Takano's nomination was submitted by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and two private individuals.
Ms. Takano is a graduate of McKinley High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Pathology from the University of Hawaii. She retired in 1992 after twenty-two years of service with the Department of Education where she served on the Honolulu District Special Services Diagnostic Team. She has also been actively involved in fundraising drives for the Heart Association and the Lung Association.
Ms. Takano is not a stranger to boards and commissions as she is currently serving the end of her term on the Elevators Mechanics Licensing Board where she serves as a public member. Her interest in serving on the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology stems from her concern that all applicants in the field are fully trained, and have sufficient and adequate knowledge in their field of expertise toward the fulfillment of their requirements for licensure. Ms. Takano's demonstrated commitment, motivation, and professional experiences will greatly assist the State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Affordable Housing that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Affordable Housing,
|
