begs leave to report as follows:

Your Committee reviewed the personal history, resume, and statement submitted by the nominee, and finds Thomas T. Ueno, C.P.A. to have the necessary qualifications to be nominated to the State Board of Public Accountancy.

Testimony in support of Mr. Ueno's nomination was submitted by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and three private individuals.

Ueno, CPA, where he specializes in forensic accounting.  He was formerly the partner-in-charge of Grant Thorton's management consulting department.

Mr. Ueno has been a member in good standing with the Hawaii Society of Certified Public Accountants where he served as its President in 1993-1994, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants where he served on its governing council.  He has demonstrated a community-minded spirit through his service as a member of the board of directors of organizations, including the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii, Child and Family Services; and Catholic Charities to the Elderly.  He has also served as a member of the Hawaii National Guard.

Mr. Ueno is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) who has demonstrated through his participation and leadership with the Hawaii Society of Certified Public Accountants his commitment to preserving the integrity of and promoting the high professional standards of CPAs, and protecting the interest of the public.  Mr. Ueno's demonstrated commitment, motivation, education, and professional experiences will greatly assist the State Board of Public Accountancy.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Affordable Housing that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Affordable Housing,
