Your Committee reviewed the personal history, resume, and statement submitted by the nominee and finds Randal Taniguchi to possess the requisite qualifications to be nominated to the Board of Taxation Review for the 2nd Taxation District.
Testimony in support of the nomination of Randal Taniguchi was submitted by the Department of Taxation and five private citizens.
Randal Taniguchi earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Hawaii. Mr. Taniguchi has accumulated over twenty years of professional working experience in the areas of tax law and accounting. Specifically, he has worked for global companies in the public accounting industry and private sector on the island of Maui. Mr. Taniguchi's background is well-suited to resolve tax issues facing the Board of Taxation Review for the 2nd Taxation District in a fair, objective, and professional manner.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Economic Development and Taxation that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.
