G.M. No. 509

KEITH R. ROLLMAN,

for a term to expire 6-30-2012,

begs leave to report as follows:

Your Committee reviewed the personal histories, resumes, and statements submitted by the nominees, and finds Jenny J. Fujita and Keith R. Rollman to have the necessary qualifications to be nominated to the Cable Advisory Board.

Testimony in support of Ms. Fujita's nomination was submitted by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, the Mayor of the County of Kauai, the Kauai Chamber of Commerce, and three private individuals.

Ms. Fujita received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with minors in Studio Art and Asian Religions from Bucknell University.  She currently is a partner with Fujita & Miura Public Relations, which is a full-service public relations firm in Kauai that provides consulting services to clients in a variety of sectors, including education, government, not-for-profit, community service, and small business.  She has previously served as the Public Information Officer for the County of Kauai under Mayor Kusaka, and was the Public Relations & Communications Specialist at Kauai Electric for more than seven years.

Ms. Fujita is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the Association of Fundraising Professionals.  She serves as a volunteer for the Kauai Chamber of Commerce's Small Business Committee and the Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Kauai Community College's Spring Gourmet Gala Planning Committee.

Ms. Fujita welcomes the opportunity to provide the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs with input on its public education and government programming policies and other issues related to cable television programming.  She has a strong appreciation for the importance of high quality, accessible cable television and public access programming in the State.  Ms. Fujita's demonstrated commitment, motivation, communications background, education, and professional experiences will greatly assist the Cable Advisory Committee.

Testimony in support of Mr. Rollman's nomination was submitted by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.

Mr. Rollman received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Environmental Design from the University of Hawaii.  He currently serves as a Senior Advisor for the Department of Information Technology of the City and County of Honolulu where he also serves on the Mayor's senior staff and media team and is a member of the Mayor's Energy and Sustainability Task Force.  He is also the President of R Strategic Communications where he served as the primary Media Consultant and Creative Director for Mayor Hannemann's mayoral campaign, and has developed the marketing plan, website, and collateral for Sunset Beach Colony.

Mr. Rollman has been affiliated with several organizations, including the American Association of Political Consultants, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the American Marketing Association, and the Public Relations Society of America, to name a few.

Mr. Rollman understands the primary mission of the Committee, which is to advise the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and its Cable Television Division from the perspective of and for the benefit of the public.  He believes in the Public, Education, and Government (PEG) concept, and that the allocation of resources should be equitable and balanced amongst public access, education, and government interests.  Mr. Rollman's demonstrated commitment, motivation, communications background, education, and professional experiences will greatly assist the Cable Advisory Committee.

As affirmed by the records of votes of the members of your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Affordable Housing that are attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominees, has found the nominees to be qualified for the positions to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nominations.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Affordable Housing,
