STAND. COM. REP. NO. 3175
Honolulu, Hawaii
RE: GOV. MSG. NO. 487
Honorable Colleen Hanabusa
President of the Senate
Twenty-Fourth State Legislature
Regular Session of 2008
State of Hawaii
Madam:
Your Committee on Water and Land, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 487, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of:
Legacy Land Conservation Commission
G.M. No. 487 |
LORI LEIMAMO BUCHANAN, for a term to expire 6-30-2012, |
begs leave to report as follows:
Testimony in support of this nomination was submitted by the Coordinating Group on Alien Pest Species, Department of Land and Natural Resources, Hui Honu, Inc., The Nature Conservancy, Big Island Invasive Species Committee, the State Representative from House District 13, and one individual.
Your Committee finds that Lori Leimamo Buchanan is a lifelong resident of Moloka‘i who attended and graduated from Moloka‘i High and Intermediate School. Ms. Buchanan has served as the chairperson of the Moloka‘i Planning Commission for five years and presently serves as the program manager of the Moloka‘i Invasive Species Committee. The nominee is an active member of The Nature Conservancy and would fill the requirement of being a member of the Legacy Land Conservation Commission from a land conservation organization organized in the State.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Water and Land that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Water and Land,
|
