Your Committee reviewed the personal history, resume, and statement submitted by the nominee, and finds Charles David Booth to have the necessary qualifications to be nominated to the Board of Directors of the High Technology Development Corporation.
Your Committee received testimony in support of Charles David Booth from the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism and the High Technology Development Corporation.
Charles David Booth is a Professor of Law at the William S. Richardson School of Law, University of Hawai‘i at Manoa, where he specializes in Asian and corporate law. Mr. Booth has an extensive teaching career in the legal field, including the University of Hong Kong and Duke University School of Law, and has practiced in the fields of bankruptcy and corporate law. He is a summa cum laude graduate of Yale University with a B.A. in History, and holds a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School. Mr. Booth has published and lectured widely and has been awarded numerous grants in the pursuit of his legal research. He is active in an impressive and extensive range of state, national, and international professional organizations. Mr. Booth's financial credentials and his expertise in the practicalities of entrepreneurship will be of great assistance to the Board in meeting its obligations to provide services to Hawaii's technology businesses.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Economic Development and Taxation that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.
