     Your Committee on Water and Land, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 425, submitting for study and consideration the nominations of: 

 

Board of Directors of the Aloha Tower Development Corporation

MELISSA TEVES PAVLICEK,

for a term to expire 6-30-2012,

 

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     Testimony in support of this nomination was submitted by the Aloha Tower Development Corporation, Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, Aloha Airlines, Olelo Community Television, Commercial and Business Lending, and nine individuals.

 

     Ms. Pavlicek has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Aloha Tower Development Corporation ("ATDC") for the past four years and has served as the chairperson since her second year on the ATDC board.  Ms. Pavlicek is a small business owner who is a graduate of the Baldwin High School and the University of Hawaii.  She presently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii, Hawaii Justice Foundation, Lawyers for Equal Justice, Hawaii Women Lawyers, and Olelo Community Television.  Ms. Pavlicek is also a member of the Organization of Women Leaders.

 

     Your Committee finds that Ms. Pavlicek possesses the necessary experience and qualifications to serve on the Board of Directors of the Aloha Tower Development Corporation.

     As affirmed by the records of votes of the members of your Committee on Water and Land that are attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.
