begs leave to report as follows:
Your Committee reviewed the personal histories, resumes, and statements submitted by the nominees, and finds Carol Mae A. Ball and Michele Sunahara Loudermilk to have the necessary qualifications to be nominated to the Real Estate Commission.
Testimony in support of Ms. Ball's nomination was submitted by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, the Real Estate Commission, the Hawaii Association of Realtors, and one private individual.
Ms. Ball graduated from Baldwin High School and received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan. She is currently the owner of Carol Ball School of Real Estate that is state accredited for prelicensing and continuing education, and serves as an instructor at Maui Community College of a real estate prelicensing course. In 2001 and 2003, Ms. Ball was the recipient of the Women Who Mean Business Award that recognizes the top twelve women-owned companies in Hawaii. She has extensive community and professional organization involvement, including with the Maui Chamber of Commerce, Maui Mall Merchants Association, Mediation Services of Maui, and Maui United Way, to name a few and of which she has served leadership roles.
Ms. Ball is an active and valuable member of the Real Estate Commission and her participation and valuable insights gained over her many years of experience as a licensed real estate broker demonstrate her commitment to the issues that come before the Commission and carrying out the purposes of the Commission. Ms. Ball's demonstrated commitment, motivation, education, and professional experiences will greatly assist the Real Estate Commission for a second term.
Testimony in support of Ms. Loudermilk's nomination was submitted by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, the Real Estate Commission, and seven private individuals.
Ms. Loudermilk is a graduate of Punahou School, and received her Bachelor of Arts degrees in Journalism and Romance Languages from the University of Oregon and her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii. She currently serves as the Associate General Counsel for Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. where she primarily focuses her practice on leasing, purchase and sale, development, and financing. Prior to her current place of employment, she was an Associate and later a Partner at Cades Schutte, LLLP.
Ms. Loudermilk is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association and has been an active member of the Hawaii Women's Legal Foundation and Hawaii Women Lawyers where she has served leadership roles. Most recently, she was the Sponsorship Chairperson for the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii.
Ms. Loudermilk has served on the Real Estate Commission since July 1, 2004, and her legal background has enabled her to quickly understand the purpose of the Commission, her role as a public member, and the complex issues facing the Commission and its three standing committees. She possesses the ability to focus on the issues, articulate ideas, and play an important part in discussions and decisions. Ms. Loudermilk's demonstrated commitment, motivation, education, and professional experiences will greatly assist the Real Estate Commission for a second term.
As affirmed by the records of votes of the members of your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Affordable Housing that are attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominees, has found the nominees to be qualified for the positions to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nominations.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Affordable Housing,
