Madam:

     Your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Affordable Housing, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 307, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of: 

Board of Professional Engineers, Architects, Surveyors, and Landscape Architects

MARC EDWIN VENTURA AIA, for a term to expire 6-30-2012,

begs leave to report as follows:

     Your Committee reviewed the personal history, resume, and statement submitted by the nominee, and finds Marc Edwin Ventura, A.I.A. to have the necessary qualifications to be nominated to the Board of Professional Engineers, Architects, Surveyors, and Landscape Architects for a second term.

     Testimony in support of Mr. Ventura's nomination was submitted by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Protection.

     Mr. Ventura received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Notre Dame.  He currently serves as Firm Founder and Principal of Marc Ventura, AIA, LLC in Lihue where he oversees and manages feasibility studies, design conceptualization and development, construction documentation, permitting, bidding, negotiation assistance, and construction administration for residential and commercial projects.  His firm's design philosophy focuses on the implementation of "Tropical Style" architecture to suit clients' needs, climate, and style.

     Mr. Ventura is a licensed architect in Hawaii and in California.  He currently serves as the Board's Chairperson and provides valuable leadership.  He actively facilitates and participates in discussions and meaningfully contributes due to his many years of experience as an licensed architect.  Furthermore, he serves on the Board's Rules Committee and has represented the Board at national and regional meetings.  Mr. Ventura's demonstrated commitment, motivation, education, and professional experiences will greatly assist the Board of Professional Engineers, Architects, Surveyors, and Landscape Architects for a second term.

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Affordable Housing that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.
