STAND. COM. REP. NO. 3284

Honolulu, Hawaii

RE:    GOV. MSG. NO. 303

Honorable Colleen Hanabusa

President of the Senate

Twenty-Fourth State Legislature

Regular Session of 2008

State of Hawaii

Madam:

Your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Affordable Housing, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 303, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of:

Credit Union Advisory Board

G.M. No. 303

WAYNE MINORU SHINTANI,

for a term to expire 6-30-2012,

begs leave to report as follows:

Your Committee reviewed the personal history, resume, and statement submitted by the nominee, and finds Wayne Minoru Shintani to have the necessary qualifications to be nominated to the Credit Union Advisory Board for a second term.

Testimony in support of Mr. Shintani's nomination was submitted by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and the Hawaii Credit Union League.

Mr. Shintani received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and his Master of Business Administration from Hawaii Pacific University.  He is currently the Assistant Manager and Loan Manager at Oahu One Credit Union where his primary responsibilities revolve around the success of the entire loan department and require management of the other functions of the credit union.  In his spare time, he serves his community as an AYSO referee, coach, and indoor soccer coordinator.

Mr. Shintani currently serves as the Chairperson of the Credit Union Advisory Board.  He is someone who embodies the spirit of the credit union movement and is actively working to realize the credit union mission within his community.  He is very familiar with the state laws and rules governing state chartered credit unions as Oahu One Credit Union is one of the two state chartered credit unions in Hawaii.  Mr. Shintani's demonstrated commitment, motivation, education, and professional experiences will greatly assist the Credit Union Advisory Board.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Affordable Housing that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Affordable Housing,
