STAND. COM. REP. NO. 3552
Honolulu, Hawaii
RE: GOV. MSG. NO. 290
Honorable Colleen Hanabusa
President of the Senate
Twenty-Fourth State Legislature
Regular Session of 2008
State of Hawaii
Madam:
Your Committee on Agriculture and Hawaiian Affairs, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 290, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of:
Kaho‘olawe Island Reserve Commission
G.M. No. 290 |
CHARLES P.M.K. BURROWS EDD, for a term to expire 6-30-2012, |
begs leave to report as follows:
Testimony in support of the nomination Charles P.M.K. Burrows to the Kaho‘olawe Island Reserve Commission was submitted by the Executive Director of the Kaho‘olawe Island Reserve Commission, ‘Ahahui Malama i ka Lokahi, Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs, and one individual.
Dr. Burrows is a graduate of the Kamehameha Schools, he received a Bachelor's degree from Linfield College, Master's degrees in education and science from Oregon State University and a Doctorate degree in education from Indiana University. He is presently a member of the Kaho‘olawe Island Reserve Commission and is also a member of various community organizations, notably Kawai Nui Heritage Foundation, ‘Ahahui Malama i ka Lokahi, and the Kailua Civic Club which are concerned with the protection and conservation of Kawainui marsh.
Your Committee notes the previous service of Dr. Burrows on the Kaho‘olawe Island Reserve Commission and that, by law, he will only be able to serve until January 10, 2010. However, your Committee believes that Dr. Burrows' experience and background will continue to be an asset to the Commission up to that time.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Agriculture and Hawaiian Affairs that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Agriculture and Hawaiian Affairs,
|
