SENATE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

 

calling for a joint session of the legislature for the purpose of appointing the auditor, the director of the legislative reference bureau, and the ombudsman.

 

 


     WHEREAS, Article VII, section 10, of the Constitution of the State of Hawaii, provides that the Legislature, by a majority vote of each house in joint session, shall appoint an Auditor who shall serve for a period of eight years; and

 

     WHEREAS, section 23G-1, Hawaii Revised Statutes, provides that the Legislature, by a majority vote of each house in joint session, shall appoint a Director for the Legislative Reference Bureau who shall serve for a period of six years; and

 

     WHEREAS, section 96-2, Hawaii Revised Statutes, provides that the Legislature, by a majority vote of each house in joint session, shall appoint an Ombudsman who shall serve for a period of six years; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Twenty-fourth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2008, the House of Representatives concurring, that the two houses of the Legislature assemble in joint session in the chambers of the Senate on Thursday, May 1, 2008, at 12:00 p.m. for the purpose of appointing Marion M. Higa as Auditor, Ken H. Takayama as Director of the Legislative Reference Bureau, and Robin K. Matsunaga as Ombudsman, whose terms shall commence on July 1, 2008.
