A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

relating to military reserve components.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 249, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§249-    Exemption for members of Hawaii national guard and Hawaii reserves, and other active duty military personnel claiming Hawaii as their residence of record.  Passenger motor vehicles owned by members of the national guard, reserves, armed services, including Coast Guard, who are in good standing and residents of the State of Hawaii shall be exempt from vehicle tax and registration fees.  This exemption shall not extend to vehicles used for commercial purposes."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on October 1, 2007.
