A BILL FOR AN ACT

relating to public safety.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

     SECTION 1.  The purpose of this Act is to ensure that fire fighters; law enforcement officers, including county police, corrections officers, and department of land and natural resources' division of conservation and resources enforcement officers; and other emergency first responders are fully prepared to respond to natural and manmade disasters, including acts of terrorism, by appropriating funds to plan a Hawaii state public safety and emergency response training facility.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $1 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2007-2008 for a consultant to conduct a feasibility study for a Hawaii state public safety and emergency response training facility.  The study shall include such factors as an optimal site location, public safety, and plans.  The governor may supplement funds for any cost element for this project by transferring any sums that may be needed from the funds appropriated for other cost elements of this project.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of labor and industrial relations for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2015.
