A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS AT THE uNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this section, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2007-2008.
1. To be expended by the University of Hawaii system:
A. Health, safety, and code requirements,
statewide.
Funding $
B. Capital renewal and deferred maintenance.
Funding $
C. Infrastructure improvements, statewide.
Funding $
D. Major capitol improvement project planning,
statewide.
Funding $
E. Information technology center, Oahu.
Funding $
F. Native Hawaiian success centers, statewide.
Funding $
2. To be expended by the University of Hawaii
at Manoa:
A. New classroom building, Oahu.
Funding $
B. College of education, new building, Oahu.
Funding $
C. Campus development, University of
Hawaii-West Oahu.
Funding $
D. Gartley hall, Oahu.
Funding $
E. Law school expansion and renovation, Oahu.
Funding $
F. Performing arts facility and parking
structure, Oahu.
Funding $
G. Saunders hall retrofits for energy and water
conservation, Oahu.
Funding $
3. To be expended by the University of Hawaii
at Hilo:
A. Student services building, addition and
renovation, Hawaii.
Funding $
B. Hawaiian language building, Hawaii.
Funding $
C. Campus center, addition and renovation,
Hawaii.
Funding $
4. To be expended by the University of Hawaii
--Community college system:
Temporary facilities for nursing programs,
statewide.
Funding $
5. To be expended by the University of Hawaii
--Honolulu community college:
A. Advanced technology training center, Oahu.
Funding $
B. Pacific aerospace training center, re-roof
hangar 111, Oahu.
Funding $
6. To be expended by the University of Hawaii
--Leeward community college:
A. Social sciences/teacher education facility,
Oahu.
Funding $
B. Waianae education center, Oahu.
Funding $
7. To be expended by the University of Hawaii
--Windward community college:
Library and learning resources center,
Oahu.
Funding $
8. To be expended by the University of Hawaii
--Maui community college:
Science building, Maui.

SECTION 2. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this section, are hereby appropriated out of the appropriate University of Hawaii revolving fund or funds of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2007-2008, to be expended by the University of Hawaii at Manoa as follows:
A. Enclosure of courtyards for research
laboratories, Oahu.
Funding $
B. Campus center complex, renovation and
addition, Oahu.
Funding $
C. Waahila faculty housing, Oahu.
Funding $
SECTION 3. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this section, are hereby appropriated out of private funds obtained by the University of Hawaii of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2007-2008, to be expended by the University of Hawaii at Hilo as follows:
College of pharmacy building, Hawaii.

SECTION 4. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this section, are hereby appropriated out of federal funds obtained by the University of Hawaii of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2007-2008, to be expended by the University of Hawaii at Hilo as follows:
United States geological survey building, Hawaii.

SECTION 5. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in this Act shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act; provided that all construction and renovation work under this Act shall meet or exceed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design silver rating system or another comparable state-approved, nationally recognized, and consensus based guideline standard, or system, except when the guideline standard or system interferes or conflicts with the use of the building or facility as an emergency shelter.
SECTION 6. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2007.
