A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE eleventh SENATORIAL DISTRICT.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2008-2009:
1. Queen Kaahumanu school, Oahu
A. Build a computer resource center, classrooms, and special education support space
Plans, design, and construction $1,980,000
2. Lincoln elementary school, Oahu
A. Complete the upgrade to the air-conditioning project underway for the classrooms and administration building.
Plans, design, and construction $3,500,000
3. Lunalilo school, Oahu
A. Electrical evaluation and upgrade.
Plans, design, and construction $400,000
B. Installation of a water sprinkler system
Plans, design, and construction $500,000
4. Roosevelt high school, Oahu
A. Cliff stabilization below F building
Plans, design, and construction $830,000
B. School master plan development
Plans $200,000
C. 200 stall multilevel parking structure
Plans, design, and construction $900,000
D. A/C cafeteria - A building basement
Plans, design, and construction $120,000
E. Stadium lights design and construction
Plans, design, and construction $3,000,000
F. Gymnasium renovation
Plans, design, and construction $5,500,000
5. Royal elementary school, Oahu
A. Build a drainage system for the front lawn.

6. Stevenson middle school, Oahu
A. Landscape development

B. Electrical upgrade for computer accommodation

7. Washington middle school, Oahu
A. Security cameras

B. Phone systems upgrades
Plans, design, and construction $25,000
C. Retrofit three classrooms into science laboratories
Plans, design, and construction $750,000
D. Retrofit woods classroom into technical education center
Plans, design, and construction $150,000
E. Retrofit keyboarding classroom into media production studio
Plans, design, and construction $150,000
SECTION 2. The appropriations made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriations are made; provided that all moneys from an appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2010, shall lapse as of that date.
SECTION 3. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2008.
