A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE fifteenth SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $50,413,119, or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for fiscal year 2008-2009, for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the fifteenth senatorial district, as follows:

1.   Aiea elementary school

     Install air conditioning in buildings B, E, library and office.                      $1,000,000

2.   Aliamanu elementary school

     A.   Plan, design, and construction of administration building for clerical, administrative, and support staff.  $6,000,000

     B.   Plan, design, and construction of school media-library center.               $7,500,000

3.   Aliamanu middle school

     Install three split-system air conditioning units in room S-1.                                $35,000

4.   Alvah Scott elementary school

     Install acoustic separation walls between four classrooms.                                $300,000

5.   Hickam elementary school

     A.   Design and install telephone system to facilitate safety and welfare for students.      $60,000

     B.   Install phones and necessary wiring in offices and classrooms.                        $60,119

6.   Makalapa elementary school

     A.   Design and construction for electrical upgrade for entire campus.                    $300,000

     B.   Replace existing playground water sprinkler system.                               $200,000

7.   Moanalua elementary school

     A.   Plan, design, and construction for eight classrooms to replace existing portable classrooms.                         $4,000,000

     B.   Plan, design, and construction to expand library building to accommodate technology center for students.                  $300,000

     C.   Construct roofing over existing open walkways.     $30,000

8.   Moanalua middle school

     A.   Plan, design, construct electrical upgrade for building B/D/E.     $450,000

     B.   Expand air conditioning to D building 2nd floor     $585,000

9.   Moanalua high school

     Installation of field turf on school football field.   

          Design and construction                    $1,900,000

10.  Mokulele elementary school

     A.   Design and construct an ADA compliant elevator in building F.                      $1,000,000

     B.   Design and install an upgraded system for electrical capacity for school.       $500,000

11.  Nimitz elementary school

     A.   Design and construction for campus wide air conditioning.                       $7,223,000

     B.   Design and construction for a new library building.                           $7,156,000

12.  Pearl Harbor elementary school

     Plan, design, and construction to build school library, including ground and site improvements, equipment, and appurtenances.            $7,156,000

13.  Pearl Harbor Kai elementary school

     A.   Design and construction for improvements to building C classrooms.                $540,000

     B.   Design and construction for drainage improvements.                         $118,000

14.  Radford high school

     A.   Replace gymnasium floor.              $500,000

     B.   New gymnasium ceiling.                $100,000

     C.   Renovation of the shop classroom to a culinary arts room.                          $1,000,000

     D.   Restoration of campus track.          $400,000

15.  Salt Lake elementary school

     A.   Design and construction of interior walls to create four classrooms (F-10).      $1,000,000

     B.   Design and construction of interior walls to create four classrooms (C-1).       $1,000,000

     SECTION 2.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2010, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  The sums appropriated for the respective capital improvement projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2008.
