STATE OF HAWAII

A BILL FOR AN ACT

RELATING TO INFORMATION PRACTICES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

     SECTION 1.  Section 92F-11, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (a) to read as follows:

     "(a)  All government records are open to public inspection unless access is restricted or closed by federal or state law.

If any political subdivision of the State provides by charter, ordinance, or otherwise, for more openness to public inspection of government records, the requirements of that political subdivision shall apply, except as provided in section 92F-14."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
