A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to water resources.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $3,750,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2008-2009 for the planning and design of a reservoir to serve the agricultural and residential needs of the upcountry region of the county of Maui with a capacity of at least 300,000,000 gallons of water; provided that no funds shall be made available under this Act unless the federal and county governments provide matching funds in an amount not less than $ .
The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of agriculture for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2008.
