A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

RELATING TO TARO.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Act 36, Session Laws of Hawaii 2007, is amended by amending section 4 to read as follows:

     "SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect [on January 1, 2025.] upon the completion of the following:

     (1)  The office of Hawaiian affairs publishes, in its statewide publication, a statement that establishes the importance of this Act in promoting and preserving Hawaii's unique cultural heritage;

     (2)  The office of Hawaiian affairs conducts community meetings in each county of the State that allows for public input and dialogue regarding the provisions of this Act if the office of Hawaiian affairs determines that there is sufficient interest from the public towards participating in these community meetings; and

     (3)  The board of trustees of the office of Hawaiian affairs, at a duly-noticed meeting, votes in the affirmative to declare that the provisions of paragraphs (1) and (2) have been met."

     SECTION 2.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
