A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to the maintenance of veterans cemeteries in the county of hawaii.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The legislature finds that the county of Hawaii maintains three veterans cemeteries on the island of Hawaii. Current funding for maintenance of these cemeteries is far below actual cost. This appropriation is intended to bring the State of Hawaii’s annual appropriation into line with actual costs to maintain the three veterans cemeteries. These moneys are to be administered by the Hawaii county, department of parks and recreation.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $165,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2008-2009 to support the maintenance of veterans cemeteries in the county of Hawaii.
The sum appropriated shall be expended by the county of Hawaii for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2008.
