THE SENATE

S.B. NO.

2181

TWENTY-FOURTH LEGISLATURE, 2008

STATE OF HAWAII

A BILL FOR AN ACT

making an appropriation for the emergency medical services employees in the county of hawaii.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that Act 256, Session Laws of Hawaii 2007, increased the standardized retirement contribution rates, beginning fiscal year 2008-2009, for firefighters and other public employees.  Those increases would normally be covered in the budget of the department of health for emergency medical services employees, but the county of Hawaii was not able to submit the necessary information to the department of health for incorporation in its budget submittal.

This appropriation is intended to provide for the appropriate retirement contributions for emergency medical services employees in the county of Hawaii.

SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $326,934 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2008-2009 for employer costs related to emergency medical services retirement contributions in the county of Hawaii.

The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of health for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2008.
