A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to energy efficiency.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 196, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part I to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§196- Compact fluorescent light bulbs. (a) All state and county agencies shall replace all lighting fixtures in buildings and facilities with compact fluorescent light bulbs when life-cycle cost-effective to reduce energy use and cost in government facilities.
(b) As used in this section, "life-cycle cost-effective" means the life-cycle costs of a product, project, or measure that are estimated to be equal to or less than the base case, i.e., current or standard practice or product."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
