A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to LEEWARD COAST IMPROVEMENTS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $4,666,609, or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for fiscal year 2007-2008, for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the twenty-first senatorial district, as follows:
1. Leihoku elementary school
A. Design and construction
for air conditioning
for classrooms and cafeteria. $500,000
B. Design and construction
of a chain link fence along
the northern perimeter of
the school. $10,000
Total funding $510,000
2. Nanaikapono elementary school
Design and construction
of playground equipment for grades
one, two, and three.
Total funding $185,000
3. Nanakuli elementary
A. Design and construction
for the replacement of electrical
pan/outlets, furniture, and
carpet/tile in the library. $44,000
B. Design and construction
for relocation of drinking
fountains. $13,000
C. Design and construction
for a new sprinkler system. $75,000
Total funding $132,000
4. Nanakuli high and intermediate school
A. Repair and upgrade of campus
electrical system. $750,000
B. Design and construction
of new light poles on campus. $75,000
C. Design and construction to
replace wooden stadium
bleachers with aluminum
bleachers. $150,000
D. Design and construction for
new all-purpose-weather
track. $1,000,000
Total funding $1,975,000
5. Waianae public library
A. Repair of flooring. $88,000
B. Design and construction
for sliding doors,
fire alarm system, downspout,
roof drain, flashing,
double doors, expansion joints,
and sprinkler system. $76,609
Total funding $164,609
6. Waianae small boat harbor
A. Design and construction
for the replacement of main
walkways, piers, launch ramps,
parking lot improvements, and
related work.
Total funding $1,700,000
SECTION 2. The appropriations made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriations are made; provided that all moneys from the appropriations unencumbered as of June 30, 2010, shall lapse as of that date.
SECTION 3. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act; provided that the sum appropriated in item 6 shall be expended by the department of land and natural resources for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2007.
