A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO TRAFFIC CODE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 291C, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part XI to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§291C‑ Parking of oversized vehicles prohibited. (a) No person shall park, let stand, idle, or otherwise remain motionless, without regard to the posting of any parking sign, any bus, truck, truck-trailer, trailer, van, house trailer, or other vehicle whose gross vehicle weight rating is 10,000 pounds or more, or whose vehicle length from bumper to bumper is twenty feet or more, for more than two hours on any residential roadway or street; provided that the vehicle shall be subject to all applicable traffic laws during the time while so parked.
(b) This section shall not apply to:
(1) Construction equipment and public utility vehicles if the equipment and vehicles are in use for repair or construction work while parked; and
(2) Vehicles used in unloading of goods, wares, or merchandise if the vehicles are in use for those purposes while parked."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
