A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR SWIMMING POOLS.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  County swimming pools located on or immediately adjacent to public high school campuses and utilized by the schools for physical education classes and swim teams as well as by the general public, are old and in need of repair and renovation.

     The estimated cost of repairs and/or replacement of swimming pools at the following public high schools totals $9,500,000:  $4,000,000 at Honoka‘a high school; $1,500,000 at Konawaena high school; and $4,000,000 at Laupahohoe high school.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $9,500,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2007-2008, for the repair and/or replacement of swimming pools in the county of Hawai‘i located at Honoka‘a, Konawaena, and Laupahoehoe high schools.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the county of Hawai‘i for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2007.
