A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE eleventh SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $40,560,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for fiscal year 2007-2008, for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the eleventh senatorial district, as follows:

1.   Lincoln elementary school, Oahu

     A.   Completion of classroom air conditioning project

              Plans, design, and construction       $4,000,000

     B.   Install playground equipment and safety surfacing

              Plans, design, and construction         $175,000

     C.   Repair rock wall in parking lot              

              Design                                   $90,000

              Construction                            $850,000

     D.   Install campus sprinkler system

              Plans, design, and construction          $60,000

2.   Lunalilo school, Oahu

     A.   Design and construction for air conditioning of various campus facilities; ground and site improvements and appurtenances.

              Plans, design, and construction       $4,750,000

     B.   Installation of a water sprinkler system

              Plans, design, and construction         $500,000

     C.   Resurfacing the basketball court; purchase new hoops

                                                      $200,000

     D.   Installation of security screens for A and C buildings

3.   McKinley high school, Oahu

     A.   Expansion of cafeteria.

     B.   Renovation of Building W.

4.   Roosevelt high school, Oahu

     A.   Electrical upgrades

              Design and construction                 $997,000

     B.   Air conditioning

     C.   Renovation of building A, phase III

     D.   ADA transition accessibility

              Design and construction                 $375,000

5.   Royal school, Oahu

     A.   Drainage system for front lawn

              Plans, design, and construction          $95,000

     B.   Roof renovations to connect cafeteria

              with classroom buildings

              Plans, design, and construction          $75,000

6.   Stevenson middle school, Oahu

     A.   Parking fire lane/improvement phase I

              Design and construction          $350,000

7.   Washington middle school, Oahu

     A.   Enclosing and air conditioning Fred Wright building

              Plans, design, and construction         $800,000

     B.   Wheelchair ramps for Fred Wright building

              Plans, design, and construction          $25,000

     C.   Elevator for H building                      

              Plans, design, and construction         $500,000

     D.   Air conditioning of three C building classrooms

              Plans, design, and construction          $18,000

     SECTION 2.  The appropriations made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriations are made; provided that all moneys from an appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2010, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2007.
