HOUSE RESOLUTION
Commending and congratulating the artists and producers of treasures of hawaiian slack key guitar-live in concert from maui, on winning the 50th annual grammy award for best hawaiian album.
WHEREAS, the passion and charisma of the people, culture, and spirit of Hawaii are captured in the art of music, magnifying the pure love and unique rhythms that emulate the beautiful existence of our islands; and
WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii is proud to recognize the achievements of the artists and producers of Treasures of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar – Live in concert from Maui, the winner of the 50th Annual Grammy Award for Best Hawaiian Album; and
WHEREAS, Treasures of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar – Live in concert from Maui is a compilation of live recordings made at the Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Concert Series at the Napili Kai Beach Resort on Maui, which includes Hawaiian vocals, ukulele, and Hawaiian steel guitar, in addition to slack key guitar music; and
WHEREAS, the Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Concert Series was produced by Hawaii's Renaissance man, George Kahumoku, Jr., along with musical legends, Daniel Ho, Paul Konwiser, and Wayne Wong; and
WHEREAS, Treasures of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar – Live in concert from Maui contains traditional Hawaiian music performed in each of the artist's unique styles by the best Hawaiian musicians, including instrumental and vocal performances by George Kahumoku Jr, Bobbie Ingano, Daniel Ho, Dennis Kamakahi, Keoki Kahumoku, Ledward Kaapana, Martin Pahinui, Owana Salazar, Richard Ho'opi'i, Sterling Seaton, Cyril Pahinui; and "Da Ukulele Boys" Peter DeAquino and Garret Probst; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-fourth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2008, that this body hereby recognizes, applauds, and congratulates the artist and producers of Treasures of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar – Live in concert from Maui on winning the 50th Annual Grammy Award for Best Hawaiian Album, and extends to them its heartfelt aloha and sincere best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
