HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

 

REQUESTING the auditor to conduct A SUNRISE REVIEW OF licensure of INTERIOR DESIGNERS.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, interior designers are currently an unregulated profession in this State; and

 

     WHEREAS, it may benefit and protect the citizens of the State to require the licensing of interior designers and prohibit the use of the designation licensed "interior designer" by unlicensed persons; and

 

     WHEREAS, H.B. No.      (2008) proposes to regulate the interior design profession; and

 

     WHEREAS, legal recognition, achieved through licensure, safeguards the health, safety, and welfare of the general public and brings uniformity to the profession; and

 

     WHEREAS, section 26H-6, Hawaii Revised Statutes, requires that new regulatory measures that would subject unregulated professions and vocations to licensing or other regulatory controls be referred to the Auditor for analysis; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-fourth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2008, the Senate concurring, that the Auditor is requested to conduct a sunrise review of the licensure of interior designers as contemplated under H.B. No.    (2008); and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Auditor is requested to submit findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the regular session of 2009; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Auditor.
