HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

 

REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR TO REDESIGNATE THE YEAR OF THE FAMILY AND TO MOVE THE YEAR OF THE FAMILY CELEBRATION FROM 2008 TO 2009.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, House Concurrent Resolution No. 269 (2006) was adopted by the Twenty-third Legislature on April 24, 2006 to designate and celebrate 2008 as the Year of the Family and to establish a Family Celebration Commission to administer the celebration; and

 

     WHEREAS, Executive Order 07-03 implemented designation of the year 2008 as the Year of the Family; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Family Celebration Commission was established in October, 2007; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Family Celebration Commission has recommended to the Governor that the Year of the Family be moved from 2008 to 2009 in order to facilitate broader community involvement in a successful Year of the Family celebration; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-fourth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2008, the Senate concurring, that the Governor is requested to redesignate the Year of the Family and to move the Year of the Family celebration from 2008 to 2009; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Governor and the Chairperson of the Family Celebration Commission.
