A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A COMMUNITY-BASED AQUACULTURE PROGRAM IN HONOKAA.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The purpose of this Act is to establish an educational program under which local aquacultural farmers would provide Honokaa school students with hands-on training, through class work as well as after school activities, in all phases of aquacultural production, including the breeding, raising, and distribution of the fish.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $100,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2007-2008, for a community-based aquaculture program in Honokaa, Hawaii.

     SECTION 3.  The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2007.
