A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

relating to transient accommodations.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 46, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§46-    Construction of transient accommodations.  Within twelve months of the effective date of this Act, each county shall adopt ordinances requiring that the development, redevelopment, renovation, or modification of any structure containing transient accommodations, as defined in section 237D‑2, shall be developed, redeveloped, renovated, or modified in accordance with the latest edition of the International Building Code, as published by the International Code Council; provided that the effective date of the ordinance may be six months from the adoption of the ordinance."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
