A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

RELATING TO TOURISM.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii that is collected as excess revenues from the transient accommodations tax under section 237D-6.5(b), Hawaii Revised Statutes, the sum of $      or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2007-2008 to allow the counties of Hawaii, Kauai, Maui, and the city and county of Honolulu to develop emergency response centers that provide protection, shelter, and sustenance to tourists during any natural disaster or any other emergency that places tourists at substantial risk; provided that the amount appropriated shall be divided evenly between the counties as follows:

     County of Hawaii             $          

     County of Kauai              $          

     County of Maui               $          

     City and county of Honolulu  $          

          Total                   $          

     The sums appropriated shall constitute the State's share of the cost of mandated programs under article VIII, section 5, of the State Constitution.

     SECTION 2.  The sum appropriated shall be expended by each respective county identified under section 1 for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2025.
