A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

relating to small boat ramps.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that small boat ramps are essential in providing recreational opportunities for many boaters around the state.  The legislature further finds that additional funding is needed to perform much-needed maintenance of small boat ramps, including dredging and repairs.

     The purpose of this Act is to improve Hawaii's small boat ramps by providing funds for cleaning, dredging, repair, and maintenance of small boat ramps around the state.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $     or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2007-2008 for cleaning, dredging, repair, and maintenance of small boat ramps in each county of the state; provided that at least $     shall be allocated to the small boat ramp in Kihei, Maui.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of land and natural resources for the purposes of this Act.


     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2007.
