A BILL FOR AN ACT

relating to crosswalks.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

     SECTION 1.  Chapter 264, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§264-   Crosswalks prohibited; when. No crosswalk shall be placed on a public highway with two or more lanes of vehicular traffic traveling in the same direction unless, at that location, vehicular traffic is controlled by traffic-control signals or pedestrian traffic is controlled by pedestrian-control signals, as those terms are used in chapter 291C."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
