A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the seventh representative district.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2008-2009:
1. To be expended by the department of education:
A. Waimea middle school, Hawaii.
Eight new classroom buildings $ 10,000,000
Total funding $ 10,000,000
B. Waikoloa middle school, Hawaii.
Portable buildings $ 2,900,000
Total funding $ 2,900,000
C. Waimea elementary school, Hawaii.
Plan, design, and construct a pickup/drop off area for students $ 600,000
Total funding $ 600,000
2. To be expended by the department of land and natural resources:
A. Kawaiahae harbor, south basin, Hawaii.
Utility (waterline) improvements $ 300,000
Total funding $ 300,000
B. Hapuna beach state park, Hawaii.
Bathrooms $ 500,000
Total funding $ 500,000
C. Shooting range, Hawaii. $ 250,000
Total funding $ 250,000
3. To be expended by the department of transportation:
Mamalahoa highway, Hawaii.
Guardrails and shoulders at Puuanahulu $ 1,000,000
Total funding $ 1,000,000
4. To be expended by the Hawaii health systems corporation:
Kona community hospital, Hawaii.
Emergency room expansion and renovations $ 8,000,000
Total funding $ 8,000,000
5. To be expended by the department of business, economic development, and tourism:
Natural energy laboratory, Hawaii.
Improvements to existing seawater system $ 5,250,000
Total funding $ 5,250,000
6. To be expended by the department of county of Hawaii:
Kaloko housing program, Hawaii.
Phase I $ 3,000,000
Total funding $ 3,000,000
7. To be expended by the department of agriculture:
Waimea vacuum cooling plant, Hawaii.
Engineering study for replacement and expansion of roof $ 50,000
Total funding $ 50,000
SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated agencies for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2008.
