A BILL FOR AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE COMMUNITY COLLEGES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Maui community college and Hawaii community college of the University of Hawaii system shall establish a one-year pilot program in cultural sensitivity training for hospitality industry workers who come into contact with Chinese, Korean, and Japanese visitors.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the tourism special fund the sum of $ or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2008-2009 for cultural sensitivity training program mandated under this Act; provided that Maui community college and Hawaii community college shall separately submit findings and recommendations to the legislature not later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2010.
The sum appropriated shall be expended by the Hawaii tourism authority for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2008.
