A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO EMERGENCY SHELTERS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $8,000,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal years 2007-2008, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2008-2009, for retrofit projects on public buildings in order to create additional emergency shelter spaces for residents and pets.
The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of defense for purposes of this Act.
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2007.
