A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the thirty-eighth representative district.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Mililani high school's stadium is the venue for many of the Oahu interscholastic association sporting events. Because the field is grass, it requires a great deal of maintenance. However, none of the other schools using the field are required to share in the maintenance and the responsibility, which means that the cost of maintenance falls to Mililani high school. Installation of synthetic turf would be easier and less costly to maintain and ensure that the field would be in the best condition possible for interscholastic sporting events.
Mililani middle school serves all middle school age children in Mililani. Because there is very heavy rainfall in the Mililani mauka area where the school is located, there is a need to provide covered bus stops for the health and safety of students.
The purpose of this Act is to provide funding for capital improvement projects in the thirty-eight representative district.
SECTION 2. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2008-2009:

Plans, design, and construction for the installation of synthetic turf in the sports stadium.

SECTION 3. The sums appropriated for the respective projects set forth in section 2 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2008.
