A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the twelfth representative district.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2008-2009:
1. To be expended by the department of land and natural resources:
A. Upcountry Maui, Maui
Plans and design for a 300,000,000 gallon reservoir in upcountry Maui.

Total funding $3,750,000
2. To be expended by the department of education:
A. Makawao elementary school, Maui
Design, construction, and equipment for
expansion of the cafeteria and dining
area.
Design $200,000
Construction $3,500,000
Equipment $300,000
Total funding $4,000,000
B. Kalama intermediate school, Maui
Design, construction, and equipment for a covered playcourt.
Design $50,000
Construction $1,400,000
Equipment $50,000
Total funding $1,500,000
3. To be expended by the department of health:
A. Kula hospital, Maui
Design, construction, and equipment for various improvements to Kula hospital including its wastewater system ($1,300,000); replacement of failing X-ray systems ($414,000); building repairs ($1,000,000); nurse call system ($1,261,000); steamline and equipment replacement ($1,200,000); exterior building renovations including hurricane windows upgrade ($2,410,000); plumbing repairs ($1,220,000); facility-wide ward room repairs and renovation ($5,600,000); air conditioning system replacement and upgrades ($220,000); and repair and renovation to Hale Makamae ($1,790,000).

SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agencies for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2008.
