A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO WATER RESOURCES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2008-2009 for the planning and design of reservoirs containing a combined minimum capacity of three hundred million gallons of water to serve the agricultural and residential needs of the upcountry region of the county of Maui; provided that no funds shall be appropriated unless matching funds are received from the county of Maui on a one-to-one basis; and provided further that the nonreceipt of matching funds from the federal government on a two-to-one basis shall not restrict the appropriation of state funds authorized by this Act.
The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of agriculture for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2020.
