A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

RELATING TO THE JUDICIAL SELECTION COMMISSION.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The Hawaii Revised Statutes is amended by adding a new chapter to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"Chapter

judicial selection commission

     §   ‑1  Purpose.  The purpose of this chapter is to facilitate the judicial selection commission's implementation of the provisions of article VI, section 4, of the Hawaii Constitution.

     §   ‑2  Staff.  The judicial selection commission may employ, exempt from chapter 76 and excluded from chapter 89, employees as the commission deems necessary to carry out the functions of the commission.  The employees shall serve at the pleasure of the commission and shall be included in any benefit program generally applicable to officers and employees of the State."

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect on January 1, 2050.
