A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the fiftieth representative district.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $      or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2008-2009 for the purpose of capital improvement projects to increase the capacity of emergency shelters for the fiftieth representative district, as follows:

I.   To be expended by the Department of Defense:

     A.   Kalaheo High School, Oahu

          (1)  Retrofitting of building C – Room 3, the                       Band/Music room and Wrestling room at Kalaheo                 High School for use as emergency evacuation                         shelters for hurricanes

     Total Funding                                   $231,500

     B.   Kailua Elementary School, Oahu

          (1)  Retrofitting of buildings at Kailua

              Elementary School for use as emergency

              evacuation shelters for hurricanes.

     Total Funding                                   $227,000

     C.   Kailua Intermediate School, Oahu

          (1)  Retrofitting of buildings at Kailua

              Intermediate School for use as emergency

              evacuation shelters for hurricanes.

     Total Funding                                   $330,500

     SECTION 2.  The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement project authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2010, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2008.
