A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§302A-    Educational assistants; teaching credentials.  The department may provide stipends to educational assistants to pursue a teaching credential; provided that:

     (1)  The department shall determine the requirements for educational assistants pursuing teaching credentials pursuant to this section; but

     (2)  Recommendations from school principals on behalf of educational assistant applicants shall not be a required prerequisite."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
