SENATE FLOOR AMENDMENT

SECTION 1. House Bill No. 2085, S.D. 1, is amended by amending Section 1, page 2, lines 6-12, by deleting the language that the board of the agribusiness development corporation would benefit from having some of its members possess expertise in certain secondary industries related to agriculture such as wholesale, retail, and distribution, packaging and processing, transportation and shipping, and venture capital.
SECTION 2. House Bill No. 2085, S.D. 1, is amended by amending Section 1, page 2, line 13 to page 3, line 2, by deleting the language that requires four members of the board of the agribusiness development corporation to have knowledge, experience, and expertise within certain specified secondary industries relating to agriculture, and replacing it with the following:
"The purpose of this Act is to improve the effectiveness and leadership of the agribusiness development corporation by expanding the fields of which members of the board of the agribusiness development corporation are required to possess knowledge, experience, and expertise to include retail, wholesale, and distribution involving agricultural products, packaging and processing of agricultural products, transportation and shipping of agricultural products, or venture capital involving agricultural businesses."
SECTION 3. House Bill No. 2085, S.D. 1, is amended by amending Section 2, page 3, lines 11-21, by deleting the proposed new language (page 3, lines 16-18) that provides that at least four members of the board of the agribusiness development corporation meet the requirement of having knowledge, experience, and expertise within specifically enumerated secondary industries related to agriculture, and replacing it with the following:
"The eight
members shall be selected on the basis of their knowledge, experience, and
proven expertise in small and large businesses within the agricultural
industry, agricultural economics, banking, real estate, finance, promotion,
marketing, [and] management[.], retail, wholesale, and
distribution involving agricultural products, packaging and processing of
agricultural products, transportation and shipping of agricultural products, or
venture capital involving agricultural businesses."
SECTION 4. House Bill No. 2085, S.D. 1, is amended by amending Section 6, at page 5, line 16, by amending the phrase, "requiring at least four members of the board" to read, "requiring members of the board".
