A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to CONTROLLING invasive species.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2007-2008, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2008-2009, for the inspection, quarantine, and eradication of invasive species, including the operation of inspection and monitoring programs and facilities in the State and the execution of emergency remedial measures when invasive species are detected. For purposes of this Act, "invasive species" means the same as that term is defined under section 520A-2, Hawaii Revised Statutes.
The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of agriculture for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2007.
