A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE FORTY-SEVENTH REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $8,782,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for fiscal year 2007-2008 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the forty-seventh representative district, as follows:
I. To be expended by the department of transportation:
A. Kahekili Highway, Oahu
(1) Create a right turn lane at East Hui Iwa and Kahekili Highway, and add extra lane on Kahekili Highway from West Hui Iwa to East Hui Iwa, Oahu.

Construction $1,800,000
Total Funding $1,980,000
B. Kamehameha Highway, Oahu
(1) Create a left turn lane on Kamehameha Highway onto Waihee Road and widen Kamehameha Highway to allow through traffic to bypass turn lane.
Design $150,000
Construction $1,500,000
Total Funding $1,650,000
(2) Redesign the intersection of Kamehameha Highway and Kahekili Highway, designating left turn lanes and right turn lanes to facilitate safer transit.
Design $180,000
Construction $1,200,000

II. To be expended by the department of land and natural resources:
A. Heeia State Park, Oahu.
(1) Extensive renovations and improvements to main roof, structural beams, and lanai roof of main hall building leased to the Friends of Heeia State Park to correct for long term termite damage. Provide termite treatment of structure.

III. To be expended by the Department of Education:
A. Laie Elementary School, Oahu.
1. Design and construction of a new paved parking lot.

B. Hauula Elementary School, Oahu.
1. Design and construction of a new paved parking lot.
Design $20,000
Construction $200,000
Total Funding $220,000
C. Kahaluu Elementary School, Oahu.
1. Design and construction of a new paved parking lot.

Construction $400,000
Total Funding $440,000
D. Ahuimanu Elementary School, Oahu.
1. Construction of a new multi-purpose gymnasium.
Design $500,000
Construction $2,000,000
Total Funding $2,500,000
SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2007.
