A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to human services.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The legislature finds that Project Cuddle is a safe and legal alternative to abandonment of babies. They operate a 24 hour crisis hotline and help women and the baby find attorneys, families wanting to rescue the baby, obstetricians, hospitals, and social counselors.
The legislature finds that this service could benefit Hawaii.
The purpose of this Act is to advertise the toll-free 800 number of Project Cuddle so that women in Hawaii will have access to this beneficial service.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $_______, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2007-2008, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2008-2009, for the advertisement of Project Cuddle's toll-free 800 number so that women and friends and relatives of women who are considering abandoning a baby have an alternative.
The sums appropriated shall be expended by the Department of Human Services for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2007.
