A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

relating to cruiseline industry.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  In collaboration with the department of business, economic development, and tourism; Hawaii Tourism authority; and the cruiseline industry, the department of transportation is directed to undertake a cost and benefit analysis of the cruiseline industry in the State.  The cost and benefit analysis shall consider the array of costs and benefits that the cruiseline industry is having upon the:

     (1)  Economic welfare;

     (2)  Physical environment;

     (3)  Historical and cultural assets and practices; and

     (4)  Social welfare,

of the State as a whole and each individual county.

     SECTION 2.  A cost and benefit analysis report shall be submitted to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session 2008.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
